Almond, Pistachio & Olive Day - 5th edition✨
On September 27, 2026, Valensole will celebrate the 5th annual Pistachio, Almond, and Olive Day. A day dedicated to the treasures of the region, featuring Provençal craftsmanship, social gatherings, and culinary discoveries. Through these three iconic crops, this festival celebrates a vibrant, generous Provence that is deeply rooted in its traditions.
A Day Immersed in the Flavors of Provence
Organized by the Association Mémoire Vivante de Valensole et de son Plateau, this year’s event will bring together producers, artisans, chefs, and food enthusiasts for a local farmers’ market and a variety of culinary experiences.
For this 5th edition, Michelin-starred chef Nadia Sammut will be the guest of honor. She will share her perspective on pistachios during a lecture dedicated to their history and roots in Provence, titled “Pistachios in Provence: From the Land to the Plate.”
Throughout the day, visitors will also be able to discover the many facets of pistachios, almonds, and olives through workshops, demonstrations, and tastings. Making aioli and “Valaioli,” exploring the world of olives, tasting olive oils, and even grilling pistachios on the barbecue: these are just some of the activities designed to awaken the senses and celebrate local products.
Discovering the Region's Traditions and Skills
Because behind every product lie the skills, crafts, and stories of those who make them, this day will also be an opportunity to explore several iconic sites in the region.
Visitors will be able to explore a collection of pistachio varieties at La Maison de la Pistache, tour the Moulin Bonaventure and its modern oil mill, or check out Terraroma’s modern almond cracking facility.
Guided tours will be offered throughout the day, providing a unique glimpse into these traditional skills and the various steps that bring to life the products we love to enjoy on our plates.
A Provence Looking Toward the Future
While Pistachio, Almond, and Olive Day celebrates traditions, it also reflects the revival of these crops in Provence.
In Valensole, the pistachio is gradually reclaiming its place in the plateau’s landscape, alongside the almond and olive trees. Driven by passionate growers, local initiatives, and a shared commitment to sustaining these industries, these three crops are helping to write a new chapter in the region’s agricultural and gastronomic history.
This 5th edition will thus be an opportunity to come together around what Provence has to offer that is most precious: its land, its products, and the expertise that brings them to life.
