The Ecomusée l’Olivier opens its doors to you!
On the borders of the Luberon, at the gates of the village of Volx, the Ecomusée l’Olivier opens its doors to you! Sheltered by the Bitter Rock, this old lime kiln bears witness to the industrial heritage of our territory. Sophie welcomes you there and accompanies your discovery of the Olivier civilization. Self-guided and free visits for individuals.
The civilization of the olive tree
Thanks to interactive and audiovisual tools, young and old will discover the civilization of the Olive Tree.
From the biology of the tree to its mythology, from the traditional making of soaps to the use of oil as fuel for lighting, from the pruning of the olive tree to the harvesting of the fruit, up to manufacturing olive oil.
An invitation to travel
Each step of the journey is an invitation to travel, to see and taste Provence and the Mediterranean. On the big screen, pickers from Provence, Spain, Greece, Tunisia and Lebanon harvest their fruits and take them to the mill.
You can wander among the display cases whose objects evoke the past and current culture of the mythical tree; or simply sit on a bench and listen to the music of the words that the tree evokes.
A Brémond Fils store
Brémond Fils, a company involved for many years in the Provençal and Mediterranean olive sectors, has decided to give new impetus to this unique place.
Backing onto the museum, a Brémond Fils delicatessen offers its iconic products: Provence olive oils, balsamic vinegars, savory spreads, sweets, organic infusions, biscuits, cosmetics and olive wood objects…
